Vom Erklären zum Erleben - Bringing History to Life
Vom Erklären zum Erleben - Bringing History to Life

Welcome

Allow me to share with you with my love of history and theatre!

Descriptions in English of past projects can also be found on LinkedIn

If you are interested in visual impressions of my work, look at the projects archive on this page.

You can also find me on the podcasts "Finally Friday" (by EXARC) and "Museum Theatre Musings" (by IMTAL-AP).

I am an event manager with 20+ years of experience as well as a freelance live interpreter with a passion for costumed first and third person formats.

After my first class degree in English and Cultural studies, gained at Regensburg University, I worked in the Edinburgh festival and tourism sector for several years, ie. the Fringe Festival main office, programming a six-space theatre venue, guiding Literary tours, looking after performers for the Traverse Theatre and Lung Ha's, and interpreting the Camera Obscura to visitors from all over the world.

In Germany, I was responsible for large-scale outdoor event formats for the city councils of Heidelberg and Karlsruhe, was heavily involved in a variety of theatre projects and, over the last 13 years, specialised increasingly in museum education - aiming to combine a set of different skills to the benefit of our guests.

Though I am mostly active in Germany, I also teach or perform elsewhere (such as for "Glorious Georges" at Hampton Court Palace in 2014), or offer my expertise digitally.

I devise, write, direct and act scenario- and script-based museum theatre for one or more performers. Sometimes this is performed by myself, or by others.

My portfolio also includes scriptwriting for audio guides and comic books with an historic focus.

Through my involvement with the International Museum Theatre Alliance IMTAL Europe, of which I was chair for some years, I am in contact with colleagues all over the world (such as IMTAL USA and IMTAL Asia-Pacific). I regularly attend seminars & conferences to lecture and to keep abreast of industry standards.

I also teach courses on the subject of live interpretation, which can be booked in English and German, as one- or two-day-modules. Tailor-made programming is also available and takes 8-12 weeks, according to site and staff situation.

All my offerings are available in English, I have a basic knowledge of French and good working knowledge of Spanish. To see an English list of some past projects, visit me on LinkedIn.
